SYNOPSIS:
Gillian Holroyd is one of the few modern people who can actually cast spells and perform feats of supernaturalism. She casts a spell over a publisher, Shepherd Henderson, and he falls head over heels in love with her. But witches, unfortunately, cannot fall in love, and this minute imperfection leads into a number of difficulties.
CHARACTERS: Roles available for 2-3 women, and 2-3 men.
GILLIAN HOLROYD (late 20-40s) Confident, Intelligent. A practicing witch, and a powerful one too. In the beginning of the play she is restless, looking for something different in her life, and she may just get it.
SHEPHERD HENDERSON (late 20s-40s) A successful New York book publisher. He is Gillian’s upstairs neighbor. Hard-working, Practical. Does not believe in witches or witchcraft. Is under a powerful love spell for much of the play.
MISS HOLROYD (Also known as “Aunt Queenie”. 50+) Gillian’s aunt. Also a witch, although not as powerful as Gillian. She is slightly eccentric and a bit mischievous. She loves her magic and has fun using it.
NICKY HOLROYD (early 20s-40, Male or Female) Gillian’s sibling. Also a witch. Charming, bright, with an easy manner. Always ready for a party or a prank.
SIDNEY REDLITCH (40+) Author of a book about witchcraft. Very interested in the supernatural and the goings on of magic folks, and eager to be part of that world. When he first appears he is rumpled and a little tipsy.
